A Gift of New Izannah Walker Doll Pictures

Imagine my thrill when I opened my e-mail up and attached to the e-mail were these wonderful pictures of an original Izannah Walker doll costumed as Little Red Riding Hood? Thanks so much to the private collector who sent these pictures along and gave permission to share them here with you all. The owner says, "Little red riding hood was made after she applied for her patent. Her label is under her shoulder plate. Despite being later you do not see many of them."

Look at those green boots!

Hi, Folks - I gave this free pattern a while ago on my Northdixie Designs blog to use in making a small Izannah Walker doll, so I thought I would put it here to share as well. I used this pattern for the Izannah Walker doll I made pictured above. I added paper clay on top of the head and shoulders. Finished, it made up a doll was around 15" tall, depending on how you attach limbs, etc. I've become better at dressmaking since I made this doll. It's still one of my favorites.

Larry, from Withington Auction, Inc., said that this Izannah Walker doll sold for $4, 700 at the auction in Nashua, New Hampshire last week.

Beautiful Izannah Walker Inspired Dolls

This doll is by Jackie Hendricks, Plain-n-Simple, who is making the doll for a group challenge for Coffee with Tea. The challenge we have is to make an Izannah Walker inspired doll that is less than 8 inches tall. Check out this amazing doll by Jackie! It is inspired by Izannah Walker and Frozen Charlotte dolls.

A Closer Look at an Izannah Walker Doll

The pictures that Mary of Bertoia Auctions sent were of such great pixel size that I'm able to take some crops to see the details of this doll. I just love doing that. Wonderful pictures! Isn't it amazing how simply the eyes are painted and yet they have such expression! And for all you dollmakers - did you notice that the right eye is smaller than the left eye? ;-)
